Livia Gomes Demarchi (she/her/hers)- Livia is an actor, director and occasional playwright originally from São Paulo, Brazil. She holds a BA in Theater and Performance Studies from UC Berkeley where she workshopped her first bilingual solo piece "Quem Eu". Recent credits: Miri in Sapience at Playground SF and San Diego Rep Latinx festival, and Lola in the world premiere of Ghosts of Bogotá at AlterTheater (both by the incredible Diana Burbano), Tania in Native Gardens at Center Rep, Titania/Hyppolita in a Midsummer Night’s Dream with SF Shakes and Olivia/Maria in Twelfth Night with Perspective Theater (formerly Arabian Shakes, TBA Winner for Best Ensemble). Other companies: SF Playhouse, Magic Theater, Marin Shakespeare, Playwrights Foundation, BRAVA, Shotgun Players, among others. She believes in the power of representation, storytelling, and empathy that this art form provides, and is passionate about the many layers available to a performer inside a character. She is especially thrilled to work with playwrights on new works and to investigate new ways to storytell outside of a "United Statesian" and colonial mindset. With Latinx Mafia, she is committed to radical representation and inclusion within her own community and the theater beyond. Aside from being an artist, she is also a dance lover, with experience in Samba (No Pé and Gafieira), Forró and other Latin ballroom styles. Most importantly though, she is a mom to two fiercely bright kids who challenge and thrill her daily. Obrigada!

The Pear is excited to rejoin their co-producing partner, Perspective Theatre Company, in bringing their audiences the beautiful play Somewhere, which was originally scheduled in Season 19. With almost all the insects gone, the world is beginning to fall apart as crops fail and people struggle to hold on to their ways of life. This story of a brother and a sister expertly explores the consequences of our neglect of the environment.
